SAC’s Scobee Planetarium unveils new technology and programming this Friday. The wee ones won’t want to miss The Little Star That Could, a narrative explanation of what makes stars special and how they combine forces to form galaxies (6:30pm). Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart narrates Violent Universe: Catastrophes of the Cosmos, an exploration of the “violent forces at work within our universe” (7:45pm). And finally, Latin Grammy-winner Lila Downs lends her voice to Tales of the Maya Skies, a digital “full-dome” production that shows how the Maya “made sense of an ever-changing world by observing, recording, and predicting natural events such as solstices, solar eclipses, weather patterns, and planetary movements” (9pm).
