Ranked No. 3 on Time’s list of the 10 best electric guitarists of all-time and Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, B.B. King (short for “Beale Street Blues Boy,” the nickname was given to Riley B. King in late ’40s-era Memphis) is one of blues rock’s most revered innovators. With 15 Grammys and 15,000 performances under his belt, one might assume King might be ready to, well, relax. Instead, the Mississippi native seems intent on performing until the thrill is gone. In Brazil in 2006, King poked fun at his own “Farewell Tour,” citing Never Say Never Again actor Sean Connery as his favorite. Trivia: A former tractor driver and self-proclaimed “Sinatra nut,” 85-year-old King is an FAA-licensed Private Pilot and flew himself to gigs until the age of 70. $60-$75, 7:30pm, the Majestic Theatre, 224 E Houston, (210) 226-3333, majesticempire.com, bbking.com.
