For $20, guests at Centro Cultural Aztlan’s 2nd Annual Mole Throwdown can sample mole dishes from a variety of local restaurants (iced-down cervezas will come in handy for the fiery varieties), bid on artwork donated by more than 40 of the gallery’s featured artists, channel their inner American Idol in the karaoke zone, and (most importantly) assist Aztlan in its now three-decades-old mission to promote Chicano and Latino art and culture. A promise straight from: “No boring speeches, no rubber chicken, just plain fun.” $20, 6-10pm, Centro Cultural Aztlan, 1800 Fredericksburg, (210) 432-1896, centroculturalaztlan.50megs.com.
