It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that the camp-friendly duo behind Hyperbubble would go ga-ga for Halloween. To celebrate this year, Hyperbubble turned its February LP Candy Apple Daydreams into Candy Apple Nightmares, to be released at midnight, Oct. 31, on iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby. To transform their saccharine synth pop into a more bitter fruit, Jessica and Jeff DeCuir turned to evil remixes from like-minded pals Polarized Mind (electro rock duo from St. Louis), Moonrox (dirty, disco-obsessed duo from outer space), I European (former Empire State Human founder Sean Barron) Femme Fatality (glam duo who donate their services to an extra track, “Kamikaze Coma”), Pouff (glitchy breakbeats from Austin), Stolearm (French industrial), Midi Fister (holla, San Antonio!), and retro DJ Paisley Babylon (you old timers may remember him from his mid-to-late ’90s stay in SA). We’re earmarking Stolearm’s appropriately frantic work on “Hyperactive,” Midi Fister’s horror film remake of “Top Ten Lullabies,” and I-European’s dance-tastic “Chop Shop Cop,” for our costume after party.
