On Monday, the local chapter of Fashion Group International kicked off the second Fashion Week San Antonio, a commendable effort to “cultivate and broaden a talented local design community.” From the looks of the schedule (visit fashionweeksa.com), Fashion Week SA has grown in its sophomore year, with several smaller shows leading up to the Going Green Runway Show. As one might guess from the name, Going Green encourages hopeful young designers to create wearable works of art from sustainable, repurposed, or discarded materials (the inspiration for which comes from Project Runway). After the show, follow the sound of clicking heels to Soho Wine & Martini Bar (214 W Crocket) for the official Going Green after party (free, 11pm-1am). VIP (includes dinner and Rising Star Awards at 7pm): $100, General admission (includes reception at 8pm and runway show at 9pm): $25, Sunset Station, 1174 E Commerce, fashionweeksa.com.
