SA-native Alicia Mena’s holiday favorite returns to the Guadalupe, where it originally debuted in 1993. In Mena’s one-act comedy, the ghosts of Doña Juanita and Doña Mercedes, tamale experts, mean well when they attempt to spiritually guide a new crop of tamaleras through their struggle to make flawless tamales. This year’s cast includes Rita Dugan, Lorraine Pulido, Kinya Cano, Monessa Esquivel, and Sonia M. Rodriguez. A buffet and live boleros by Rodolfo, Lore, and Ramon follow Saturday’s “reception performance.” $12-$40, 8pm Fri, Nov 26, 8pm Sat, Nov 27, 3pm Sun, Nov 28, the Guadalupe Theatre, 1301 Guadalupe, (210) 271-3151, tamaleras.com.
