Not Rhode Island’s Senate Dean, John F. McBurney III. And not John McBurney, the lusty soldier “imprisoned” in a Confederate girls’ boarding school (played by Clint Eastwood in the 1971 film The Beguiled). But SA’s infinitely more fabulous incarnation ? costume designer, makeup artist, and drag performer John McBurney presents Glamarama Lounge: The Legends Drag On. Since winning the Artist Foundation of San Antonio’s Robert L.B. Tobin for Costume Design award in 2007, McBurney ? whose mission statement includes showcasing “raw talent of all shapes and sizes in the tradition of burlesque and old Hollywood glamour” ? has collaborated with SA’s most exotic creatures to concoct out-of-the-box, over-the-top ensembles that catwalk the line between performance art and high-concept gender bending. Hosted by the “notorious” Miss Eva Green, Glamarama Lounge promises to take “high-heels, high hair, high camp, and high-larity out of the bars and on to the stage.” BYOB, girl! Set-ups will be sold at the bar. General admission: $15; table seats: $25, 7:30pm & 10pm, the Sterling Houston Theatre at Jump-Start, 108 Blue Star, (210) 227-JUMP, jump-start.org.
