In celebration of her 56th birthday, beloved writer Sandra Cisneros, best known for The House on Mango Street, hosts a cozy fundraiser for the organization she founded: The Macondo Foundation, which “supports professional writers who are giving back in underserved communities.” Aside from being given the rare opportunity to appear in public in their finest sleepwear, guests will be treated to live music by the Krayolas, Conjunto Heritage Taller, and Chayito, Teresa, and Curro Champion, as well as performances by S.T. Shimi and Janis De Lara. If you eat too many slices of pizza or chili pie, DJ Agosto Cuellar will get your booty moving with a soundtrack guaranteed to make good use of Luna’s dance floor, fuzzy slippers and all. To RSVP, simply donate between $56 (“Polyester”) and $5,056 (“Angora”) to the Macondo Foundation (macondofoundation.org), 6-11pm, Luna Fine Music Club, 6740 San Pedro, (210) 213-9098.
