Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-12-15

Prhymemates production crew connects San Antonio to the national underground hip-hop scene for its annual Christmas show. The four members of Chicago-based Vertual Vertigo proudly call themselves “old school,” taking cues from A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, and LL Cool J. Awdazcate (pronounce it like “audacity” or just go with his given name, Shawn Childress) also hails from the Windy City, and combines his successful comedy shtick with a similar reverence for the goofy-yet-astute rhymes that came out of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Era, aka Erasmo Cisneros, and K.I.N., former and current SA residents respectively, bring the socially conscious vibe. Hosted by Scuba Gooding, Sr. 9pm, $5, Limelight Music + Drinks, 2718 N St Mary’s St, thelimelightsa.com. — Nicole Chavez
