Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-12-29

Mitch Fatel has been working as a stand-up comedian since age 15. By no means an overnight success, Fatel climbed the comedy ladder slowly, interning on The Howard Stern Show during college and later scoring appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he was hired as a correspondent. If CD titles like Miniskirts and Muffins (2004) and Super Retardo (2005) don’t clue you in on the type of observational humor Fatel favors, read a couple of his recent tweets from Thailand: “Christmas in Phuket, Thailand! Nothing better. I just saw Santa getting a soapy massage from a hooker!” “Having a blast in Thailand. We just met a dog on the beach that won’t stop following us around. He’s so cute, can’t wait to eat him.” In support of his DVD, Mitch Fatel is Magical, the native New Yorker plays six shows at Laugh Out Loud. $20-$65, 8pm Thu, Dec 30; 8pm & 10:15pm Fri, Dec 31; 8pm & 10:15pm Sat, Jan 1; 8pm Sun, Jan 2; Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club, 618 NW Loop 410, (210) 541-8805, lolsanantonio.com, mitchfatel.com.
