Beautiful, but also somewhat frightening, Femininity Constructed, an exhibition of photographs by Sarah Sudhoff and Leah DeVun, examines two female rites of passage ? playing dress up and sorority rush. While Sudhoff’s “With a D with an E with an L-T-A” almost looks staged and styled, it’s a documentary photograph. Blown up to 24” x 20”, the personalities of her young subjects are easily imagined. Although DeVun’s work, including “Carol, age 8,” from the photographer’s Hannah Montana Series, is staged, real issues spring forth (especially at 30” x 40”), among them pop culture’s grip on the world. Together, Sudhoff and DeVun find common ground by exploring the ever-present fear of not fitting in. Free, 6-9pm Thu, Jan 6 & Fri, Jan 7, UTSA Satellite Space, 115 Blue Star, (210) 212-7146, art.utsa.edu/galleries/satellite-space. On view through Sun, Jan 23.
