If any of you appreciate a good dose of art as much as I do, be sure to check out the event below. I've re-posted this release on behalf of Centro Cultural Aztlan and hope you can venture out this Saturday to take a peak at both the exhibit and the artisan market. See below for CCA's official Facebook event invite:
"As part of the 4th Annual On & Off Fredericksburg Road Studio Tour sponsored by the Bihl Haus Arts, Centro Cultural Aztlan is proud to present a look into one of the oldest annual teaching/exhibits and one of the new and fresh Artisan markets in town.
Segundo de Febrero
This annual exhibit commemorates the 1848 signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and the beginning of the Mexican American as a political entity in the United States. The ending of the U.S. Mexican War and the redistribution of a border creating a new bicultural citizenry, which brought about a new consciousness of Mexican-American dual identity, history and traditions. The Segundo de Febrero Exhibit is a visual dialogue of our Chicano identity since the signing of the Treaty, one hundred and sixty two years later.
Sueños de Primavera Artisan Market
February 19, 11am – 5pm and February 20, noon to 5pm.
In addition to our Segundo de Febrero exhibit already on display, Centro Cultural Aztlan will be presenting a group of emerging and established artists selling their craft, paintings and wares. That’s over 30 artists under one roof!
This Artisan Market give our local artists an affordable indoor venue to sell their works of art, and also provide customers with the opportunity to meet the people who design and create the wide range of products that are for sale. Come see their newest spring-inspired designs and get motivated by this talented group of artisans!"
