What Are Texans Thankful For?

Facebook released a map this week that has a state-by-state breakdown of what people say they are thankful for on social media. The map is a bit mundane, but looking it over will kill a few moments between your Thanksgiving meal and dessert.

While many states have a religious sentiment to their gratitude (Utah is thankful for the heavenly father, and much of the south is thankful for things like "god's word," "salvation" and "god's forgiveness") our state, as well as New Mexico and Arizona, are thankful for the rain. That makes sense considering the long period of drought much of the state is experiencing. Over in California, where their drought is much more extreme, they're thankful for YouTube, because priorities.

Over in Alaska and Ohio, they're thankful for "children's laughter," which is kind of sweet, but also kind of creepy. Just to the east of us, Louisiana is thankful for rainbows for some reason. Vermont is thankful for Pinterest, so there must be some crafty people in Vermont. Let's hope they're not pinning any of these terrible Thanksgiving ideas.

So there's that. People are expressing gratitude on Facebook, and the social media giant created a unrevealing and over-generalized map about it. Now go eat some pie.
