Christopher Carter, the former UIW police officer who shot an killed Robert Cameron Redus in an off-campus incident will evade indictment.
The Bexar County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday afternoon that a former University of Incarnate Word police officer won't be indicted for shooting Robert Cameron Redus.
Former UIW police officer Christopher Carter shot Redus five times in the parking lot of The Treehouse Apartments after a traffic stop. Carter pulled Redus over for suspicion of drinking and driving and claimed Redus took his baton, causing him to fear for his life.
In a press release, the DA announced that the grand jury hearing the case decided not to indict the officer.
Redus' family has since sued, alleging Carter didn't receive proper use-of-force training.
