Early voting fell short of impressive, as usual, as a mere 55,899 of the 959,439 registered voters took advantage of the opportunity.

With the early vote session ending yesterday, Bexar county begins the count down to general election day, Saturday May 9.

Not only will the well publicized mayoral candidates see a vote, but all city council seats are up for election.

Additionally, many considerable issues including aquifer water quality protection, park development, and city amendments regarding public officeholders pay and light rail regulation will be encompassed in the ballot, according to the Bexar County Elections site.

Though the county faces an especially important election, the Rivard Report finds, "88 out of 100 eligible voters are not participating, despite the convenience of early voting."
