Bexar County Precinct 4 County Commissioner Tommy Calvert is all up in arms because he really wanted to buy some chairs.

The 13-year-old AT&T Center, the place with the basketball, is currently undergoing a $100 million dollar renovation, and as part of the upgrades,18,000 stadium seats are being thrown away.

The move upsets the county official, according to KSAT12. He told the news station that the county could've auctioned off 500 to 1,000 chairs to raise some money. Undoubtedly fans would love to get a peace of the area as a piece of sports memorabilia.

But county economic development Director David Marquez told the San Antonio Express-News that it did not make financial sense to repurpose the stadium chairs so they are in a usable condition.

“Those are going to be demolished because they’re not reusable. It would cost more to take them down and try to keep them in any kind of usable condition.”

The renovation overhaul to the AT&T Center will take place over the summer before the Spurs first home game on October 28.
