After a fight broke out at a pool in McKinney last Friday, a community northeast of Dallas, a police officer pulled a gun on a teenager and slammed a girl to the ground by her hair.
And, like an ever-growing number of questionable use-of-force cases, there's video taken by a bystander.
"The initial call came in as a disturbance involving multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, refusing to leave," McKinney police said on Facebook Sunday morning. "McKinney Police received several additional calls related to his incident advising that juveniles were now actively fighting."
A video showing part of the encounter, includes a police officer, who is now on leave pending investigation, throwing a black teenager to the ground — by her hair — and pulling a gun on two teenagers who instantly reacted to the takedown because, you know, why does a cop have to throw a teenager to the ground by her hair?
The video was shot by a kid named Brandon Brooks and uploaded to YouTube over the weekend. According to Buzzfeed, Brooks is a white kid.
His video shows the officer detaining every black teenager he sees before violently detaining the young woman.
With all due respect to Brooks who video-taped the encounter, everyone else on the sidewalk who was black was detained while he was allowed to walk through the possible crime scene without being detained under the suspicion of involvement or for trying to evade police.
Maybe they couldn't see him?
Note the suburban dad in the jean shorts with a tucked in polo shirt. He definitely is pretending he's a police officer — or maybe a bouncer.
Teens at the pool told Buzzfeed that they were invited to an end-of-school pool party when a fight allegedly broke out between some teens and adults who supposedly told the black teens to leave the pool and go back to "section 8 [public] housing."
