VIA Transit Offering Low-Cost Transportation Option For College Students

  • VIA Metropolitan Transit
College is expensive.

The cost of tuition and books can set anyone back.

Top on the cost of gas for commuting between home and school during the fall semester in sprawling San Antonio, and get ready to eat a lot of cheap Ramen.

While negating tuition and textbook costs can be near to impossible, public transportation is a solid way to save money on the cost of fuel.

VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering a semester pass for $35 for any student, from elementary school through college.

The pass is good through January. VIA has a similar deal for spring, which lasts January through May.

The transportation agency is selling the fall semester pass at VIA Information Centers.

All you need is proof of registration and a school photo identification card.

Don't have one yet? Not to fret.

VIA can issue photo ID cards for $2 at the VIA Metro Center, the Downtown Information Center, the Kel-Lac Transit Center, the South Texas Medical Center Transit Center, the North Star Transit Center and at the Crossroads Park and Ride. Click here for more info on locations.

Students at any of the Alamo Colleges can by passes from their bursar offices.

UTSA students at the main campus can purchase a pass at the University Center Information Desk across from the bookstore, and University of Incarnate Word students can buy one at the Student Activity Center Information Desk.
