SAWS has set up three events for high water bill complaints.
For those unlucky San Antonio Water System customers who recently received an abnormally high bill, SAWS has set up three Rapid Response events this week to help sort out the problem. The events will take place:
-Thursday, October 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Encino Branch Library (2515 E. Evans Road)
-Saturday, October 3, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tobin Library at Oakwell (4134 Harry Wurzbach)
-Saturday, October 3, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Cody Branch Library (11441 Vance Jackson)
SAWS recommends bringing a copy of your bill with you.
The utility also set up a hotline for customers with questions about high water bills. The number is (210) 233-2050. Customers can also email SAWS at email@example.com. Be sure to have the account holder's name, service address, account number and a daytime phone number handy.
SAWS CEO Robert Puente attributes the high bills "to estimated reads by meter readers, old slow meters that have been replaced with new, more efficient meters, and true additional water usage due to a hot and dry July and August, as well as possible unidentified leaks."
Puente apologized for the bills in a news release. He will answer questions about them during the City Council meeting tomorrow.
