KLRN announced today that local radio and television personality, Chris Duel, will host a new show called SciTech Now that's all about San Antonio's science rich atmosphere.

The weekly, 30-minute production will cover everything from the IT industry to biomedical enterprises, bringing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) the attention and recognition it deserves, KLRN says in a press release.

“My love for science and technology began at an early age. I remember being mesmerized as a child while watching the live images of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin taking mankind's first steps onto the lunar surface,” Duel says. “From that moment on, I have been fascinated about all things science and I am elated to be able to share the stories of the local and national people who continue to investigate the hows and whys of the world.”

Arthur Emerson, KLRN's CEO and president, says SciTech Now is a natural fit for KLRN.

“It just makes sense for us to include this program in our line-up of local content that already includes News, Public Affairs, Arts and Culture, and now Science and Technology,” Emerson says.

The broadcast, which will be aired in other markets, will explore technological advancements and innovations from around the country, and from the Alamo City. That's where Duel's local segments come in. Those will be intertwined with the national stories, KLRN says.

SciTech Now will air Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. starting February 12. Full episodes will be available online via the KLRN Video Player.

Duel is WOAI's San Antonio Spurs studio anchor, and has worked with WOAI, KTSA, ESPN San Antonio and the "Gimme The Mike" series for KSAT.
