The main storyline from the Spurs' 112-88 victory over the Miami Heat Thursday night was how the Silver and Black rebounded from their previous game. In that one, they let a 25-point lead slip away against the Charlotte Hornets — one of the worst regular season losses in the Popovich era.
But let's take a couple steps inward, away from the big picture, and focus on the trees instead of the forest. One tree-like player, to be specific: Boban Marjanovic.
Marjanovic set a new career high with 19 points in 14 minutes (pay no attention his -3 plus/minus rating). And while some of his shots came around the rim, many were jumpers or floaters, lofted in with his deceptively soft shooting touch. Watch the full highlights below:
Perhaps more impressive, many of those buckets came against Hassan Whiteside, the NBA leader in blocks per game. Though to be fair, Whiteside looked less than fully engaged on some possessions in the late stages of the blowout.
Marjanovic and the 60-win Spurs' next game comes Friday, March 25 at home against the Memphis Grizzlies.
