We love making fun of Ted Cruz.
Whether pointing out his insane political gesturing or examining some of the stupid stuff that comes out of his mouth during the Republican primary, we're directing it right at Cruz.
But this week, a woman who does, indeed, resemble Cruz, has taken the internet by storm. Many commenters suggest that the woman is Cruz in drag. She was on Maury trying to find her daughter's father.
Perhaps she got more than she bargained for? Since her photo went viral, social media has been thick with jokes calling her ugly for looking like Cruz, or suggesting that she is, in fact, not a woman, but rather, Cruz dressed in drag.
That's body shaming. Sure, men and women's facial features can resemble each other. But is it right to shame them both for it?
There are plenty of more areas in which we can make fun of Cruz, a presidential wannabe. And how crazy has this Republican nomination process become when a woman, who goes on Maury and resembles a candidate, goes viral?
It's what comes out of Cruz's mouth that warrants criticism, rather than what his mouth looks like.
For instance, this week a federal appeals court ruled that a school district in North Carolina could not ban a transgender teen from using the boys bathroom, allowing the teen to sue the district.
Naturally, stupid shit came out of Cruz's mouth.
If you listen to this YouTube video, it shows a massive misunderstanding of transgender issues and willingly bends facts in an attempt to scare and link the rights of transgender persons to pedophilia. That makes no sense, is insulting and is harmful.
This is the race for the next president of the United States and Cruz could nab the nomination if the Republican Convention is contested. Maybe not, though. Either way, it's a possibility.
That's why we should be examining what comes out of Cruz's mouth, not whether a woman who appeared on Maury has a similar nose and lips.
