Police say a San Antonio woman was shot and killed while trying to shield her friend from domestic abuse early Friday.
The woman, identified by the Express-News
Friday as 28-year-old Margarita Natividad, had reportedly just driven home from work with her friend when the fight started. Police say that when the two women arrived at the Charles Andrews apartments, the other woman's boyfriend grew angry saying it had taken the women too long to get home, according to reporting by Kens5.
Police say Natividad jumped in when the boyfriend became aggressive with his girlfriend. Kens5 reports
that when the girlfriend took out her licensed handgun, the boyfriend somehow gained control of it and fired twice. Natividad, still shielding her friend, was struck and killed. Police say the man then grabbed his girlfriend and fled the scene (we'll update when police have more information or release the suspect's name).
Such incidents have not been uncommon in Bexar County this summer. Authorities say that on June 16, Charles Haltom
stabbed his girlfriend in the neck, killing her, before walking out onto his deck to wait for police to arrest him. The same week, a woman returning to her northeast side apartment was confronted by an old boyfriend, who police say then shot her to death before turning the gun on himself
