In order to encourage motorist to carpool, use public transit and find other means of getting around the city, VIA will provide free bus rides all day today, Tues. Sept. 5, in light of gasoline shortages in the region.

Fixed-route bus service, Park & Ride Service and scheduled VIAtrans trips will be fare free, plus VIA will also cover the $2 fare and up to $9 for registered VIAtrans customers using its Taxi Subsidy Service.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg is encouraging San Antonians to explore public transit options and "ride share alternatives throughout the week as fuel distributions come back to normal over the next few days.”
