While Texas State seems to have an unofficial calendar of racist fliers going up on campus
, hateful words were this time found around Southern Methodist University in Dallas over the weekend.
While this isn't necessarily shocking since we know that Texas colleges have the most hate group recruitment efforts in the country
, it's still pretty discomforting.
According to the student newspaper Daily Campus
, racist and homophobic fliers were found around the campus. The group behind the fliers posed besides them with their faces covered and arms raised in a Nazi salute. On social media, they bragged about the fliers, one which said "no more tolerance no more diversity" while another called for a white revolution.
They describe themselves as the "Face of American Fascism."
In addition to the fliers, a banner reading "White men! Save your people / Reject the opioid beast!" was posted on a gate to the campus lacrosse field.
also reports that the university administration is aware of the hateful messages.
“While SMU strongly supports freedom of speech and expression, the outside group featured on these signs promotes an abhorrent message that is opposite to SMU values," said university president R. Gerald Turner in an email. "Our University community is deeply committed to maintaining an educational environment that is welcoming and inclusive."
He also said that the fliers and banner are now under investigation by SMU police.
The latest fliers come little more than a year after anti-black fliers "warning" white women about the "dangers" of dating black men
were posted in one of the campus dormitories.
