Two student athletes at Houston Baptist University, including a former Warren High School football player, have been accused of sexual assault.
, 18, who attended San Antonio's WHS, and Kyler Henson
, 22, who is from Lufkin, are facing rape allegations from an October 29 "incident at a campus apartment complex," according to KPRC Channel 2
According to court documents, a female student at a party that evening said she felt sick after having a drink (which she said someone took, walked off and came back with) and said she repeatedly blacked out during the night. She left with a group of men, including Houston and Henson.
Documents allege that Henson first sexually assaulted the woman in the backseat of a car. The assault allegedly continued when the woman was brought back to Henson's campus apartment (with Houston in tow), where the victim was said to have regained consciousness and verbally defended herself from the men.
Henson admitted to having sex with the woman. But when police asked him about consent, he allegedly responded, "why do I need consent?," according to court documents.
Meanwhile, Houston denied the allegations and is maintaining his innocence. Both men are wide receivers on HBU's football team.
In a statement, HBU's athletic director Steve Moniaci wrote: “We are greatly saddened for all involved. We had already taken the action of suspending the two athletes from participation pending the outcome of the investigation. There are policies and procedures in place here at HBU for this sort of situation, and those have been followed precisely."
