A 17-year-old Smithson Valley High School student was arrested and charged for allegedly putting antifreeze in another student's drink.
A spokesperson for the Comal County Sheriff's Office said Paige Nicole Jackson admitted to putting the antifreeze in the drink
. Sources told police that Jackson gave the drink to the girl as a fake peace offering late last month on SVHS campus. The two girls had drama going on between them for weeks since the victim is dating Jackson's ex-boyfriend.
Spokesperson Jennifer Smith said the victim tasted the drink and knew something was off about it. The girl poured some of the drink out and saw a green tint to it. Her mother took her to a hospital where doctors confirmed she was okay.
Jackson's charges include tampering with a consumer product, a second-degree felony just like attempted murder. She has since been released on bail, though the sheriff's department is still investigating the incident.
The Comal County Independent School District adds that Jackson is no longer on SVHS campus, though it may take additional disciplinary measures depending on action taken by law enforcement.
