In honor of International Women’s Day, Mujeres Marcharan are organizing the International Women’s March on Saturday, March 3.

The 28th annual event will bring women, girls, families and allies together “to unite communities and uplift the voices of all women and girls for a just world,” according to Mujeres Marcharan Facebook post.

This year’s official image is made by Texan artist Suzy González and features a figure with butterfly wings expanding the length of her body with the words “We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For, Somos A Quien Estábamos Esperando” and the transgender symbol over one eye.

The rally is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Columbus Park with the march starting at 11 a.m.

Planned Parenthood of South Texas is gearing up for the march with a morning dedicated to creating visuals and showing all around appreciation for the Planned Parent staff this Saturday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Esperanza Center for Peace and Justice.

Tagged as a family-friendly event, it will give a chance to make posters, write postcards to elected officials in support of Planned Parenthood and learn about volunteer opportunities with Planned Parenthood.

Mujeres Marcharan, organizers for the 28th annual march will be on hand to screen t-shirts for kids. (T-shirt will not be provided.)

If you are down for making larger pieces, Gonzalez is opening up her Our Lady of the Lake University painting class for a banner painting community workshop on Thursday, March 1, from noon to 3 p.m. at Movement Gallery/Galería Movimiento.
