San Antonians will have two opportunities to get their social-justice fight on this Saturday, with the 22nd Annual Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice and the first-ever March For Our Lives taking over downtown.

The Cesar E. Chavez march, honoring the labor, human- and civil rights leader, will begin bright and early with a "blessing of the march" worship service at 8:30 a.m. at 1301 Guadalupe St., near the Guadalupe Theater. The march, dedicated to "building bridges for education, non-violence and social justice," kicks off at 10 a.m.

Andres P. Chavez, Cesar E. Chavez's grandson, will serve as grand marshal of the parade.

There will also be a performance by the Latin Grammy award-winning Joe Posada. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank.

Also on Saturday, San Antonio, along with 838 other cities around the world, will host a united march against gun violence. Inspired by the actions of the student survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on February 14, March For Our Lives – San Antonio will meet in front of City Hall. Attendees can also take advantage of a free ride from Lyft.
