Meteorologists have been describing the Saharan dust that recently billowed into S.A. with the kind of alarm usually reserved for Category 5 hurricanes, killer bee swarms and zombie plagues.

Stay indoors, they caution, especially if you have asthma or other chronic respiratory problems. And if you absolutely must go outdoors, for all that is good, please, please, please wear a mask.

Sound a little alarmist? A little panicky? Maybe a little like advice from your overprotective mom?

Well, before you write it off, you may want to check out this GIF tweeted out by the National Weather Service. Watch as the rolling dust turns a picturesque South Texas into something resembling dirty dishwater in just 24 hours.

Yuck. I'd definitely take a pass on breathing that shit.

Looks as rough on the lungs as chain-smoking a pack of filterless Chesterfields — or maybe spending a weekend in Houston.
