If you bartend, cook or wait tables in San Antonio, there's a damn good chance you were doing just that while many of us kicked back yesterday.

With 96 percent of its restaurants staying open last Labor Day, San Antonio ranks as the U.S. city with the highest number of food service businesses open on the federal holiday, according to data from credit card reader company Square Inc. Brooklyn was second with 89 percent and Sacramento third with 85 percent.

Given that San Antonio still sees plenty of tourism and convention traffic this time of year, the stat shouldn't be too surprising. Most of the other cities ranking just behind us on the list are also travel hotspots — New Orleans, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco to name a few.

Phoenix is the city where the most restaurants are closed for the federal holiday. More than half shut their doors last year.
