While a San Antonio-area IKEA is good news for everyone who loves Swedish meatballs and furniture, Alamo City residents who want a new job have even more to look forward to with the new store.

On Tuesday, IKEA announced that about 250 positions will need to be filled ahead of the early 2019 opening of the Live Oak location.

Job openings will cover a range of focuses, including home furnishings sales, interior design/visual merchandising, customer service, safety and security, cashiers, facility management, warehouse receiving, stock replenishment and child play area supervision. There is also a call for food service jobs, working in the store's prized Swedish Food Market as well as the exit bistro and employee cafeteria.

Many positions require a high school diploma and one year of work experience. Employees who work at least 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits and family-friendly initiatives.
