Telsa will open a second San Antonio showroom among the 11 stores it's bringing online this week.
Eccentric, spliff-puffing billionaire
Elon Musk's electric car company will open the new Alamo City location in the La Cantera shopping center, according to a Twitter announcement
. The location joins Tesla's existing S.A. showroom and service center in the Dominion.
Under Texas law, Tesla can't actually sell its pricy rides at retail locations. So, instead, it bills the stores here as "education centers," allowing potential customers to view the vehicles and face jaw-dropping sticker shock. (Its least-expensive model is $49,000.)
The new stores come online as fans in the online Teslaverse are all aflutter
over revelations the company included a "fart app" as an Easter egg in its vehicle software. Apparently, drivers have the option to choose between “on demand” fart noises and bursts of flatulence when they use the turn signal.
Because nothing classes up high-end retail locations like a fart.
