Ukrainian Vadym Kholodenko is one of the few great classical pianists to fully express the music’s emotion on his face, exhibiting Kobe-tongue and manic bouts of joy and sadness in his performances. Under Kholodenko’s direction, the works of Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky and other one-name-club composers truly come to life; in 2013, his animated performance took home the gold medal at the renowned Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth. Now 29 and living in the DFW, Kholodenko heads to Trinity for a recital presented by ARTS San Antonio on the Steinway-only campus.
